The MantisPod Pro is more like a traditional tripod; for example, it doesn’t have the extending arm (which tends to make both the Z version and the GoPro model unstable in my experience).
The system is simplicity itself. The mount is made up of a flexible rubber covered band that has the CapLock connection on one end. The other end has a tongue that fits into it and locks in place, only released by pressing a button on the base.
As the name sort of suggests, it has a lot to do with power, with a couple of party tricks thrown in for good measure. Basically, the Volta is a battery grip that doubles as a tripod and remote control for GoPro Hero 9, 10, 11 and 12 models.
If you are not familiar with a Pluto Trigger, it is a small – and very clever – Bluetooth device that connects via a dedicated cable to your camera’s comms port and uses the aforementioned Bluetooth with an app on your smartphone. Once it is all setup, you can use the Pluto Trigger to fire off the camera based on all sorts of triggers such as sound, lightning, vibration, voice etc, as well as creating imagery of star trails, slow motion, infrared and much, much more.
